Welcome to Go Healthie!

My name is Sharon and I was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. I am a Secretary by profession and a food blogger. I’m happy that you stumbled onto Go Healthie website. Here you’ll find me sharing articles on healthy living, promoting health products, equipment relevant to your health as well as delicious plant-based recipes. Go Healthie is a place for healing, staying healthy and feeling great!

Living an alternative lifestyle

The main reasons for me living an alternative life are all health-related. I was diagnosed with Lupus in 2010 and decided to change my diet. This prompted me to do an extensive research about inflammation and kidney disease as well as a plant-based diet which I implemented in my lifestyle.

I continued living an alternative lifestyle in 2016 when I received a gunshot wound in the abdomen during a robbery which damaged my small intestines. My health took a significant nose dive and I spent eleven months in a hospital. Despite all my health issues, I try very hard to live my life from the perspective of what I can do and not what I can’t.  I try to look at things from different angles, find ways around issues and do things in my way.  That, to me, is an alternative life.

Some of my favourite things are watching HGTV, Food Network and experimenting in the kitchen. I like to stay active by taking long walks and strength training.

I only share what I am doing and what I have learned.  I do this in the hope the information here helps someone, anyone to overcome their life hurdles.  I know I might not be able to post every day and I know my methods won’t suit everyone.  What I do promise is to be open and honest about my experiences.  I also promise you, I will keep going as best I can.

Finally, after a rather arduous journey, I now make a living by working for myself.  I share my story to help inspire others to never give up no matter what life throws at you.  In my experience, there is always a way to work around the barriers associated with health problems.
